LED LIGHTING Energy Update

After a consultation in December 2020, the government announced changes to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) for England and Wales.

From April 2023, new legislation will come into force where it will be an offence to let a property which does not achieve a minimum ‘E’ efficiency standard, this will increase to a rating of ‘C’ by 2025.

At MS we work with our clients to make buildings more energy-efficient and reduce carbon emissions as part of the government target to be net-zero by 2050.

LED lighting upgrades are a big part of this initiative, and we continue to swap old fluorescent and incandescent bulbs for LEDs wherever possible across our client sites.
